The Geisenheim Research Center (GRC) is under the responsibility of the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art. It’s central tasks are to conduct applied and basic oriented research in the fields of Viticulture, Oenology, Beverage Technology, Horticulture and related subjects. Scientists at the GRC have teaching obligations at the University of Applied Sciences of Wiesbaden (HSRM), which has an educational branch on the GRC campus in Geisenheim. On December 31st 2009, a staff of 350 including scientists, externally funded researchers (nearly 50 doctoral projects), technical and administrative personal worked at the GRC. During 2008-2009 foreign visiting scientists from Thailand (18!), the USA (2), Australia (2), India (2), Poland (2), South Africa, Hungary, Turkey and Luxembourg participated for several weeks or months in ongoing research projects at the GRC.
