Teaching
The number of students on campus across all disciplines has substantially increased over the last 15 years. Part of this development was due to the creation of new study programmes, such as International Wine Business, but also because of the continuous positive development in the Viticulture and Oenology– and Landscape Architecture programmes. Currently about 1100 students are enrolled in bachelor programmes taught at the Geisenheim campus.
Also very positive has been the development in the number of graduate students. In 2009, the campus hosted 31 Master students and 49 doctoral students. The Master programmes in Horticultural Sciences and the International Master programme in Oenology “vinifera”, which both were initiated relatively recently in 2007, show a particular positive development. Additionally, the “vinifera” programme, which is offered by the GRC and HSRM together with partners from France (SupAgro Montpellier/ENITA Bordeaux), Italy (two partnerships around the Universities of Udine and Torino), Portugal (Technical University of Lisbon) and Spain (Polytechnical University of Madrid) has received Erasmus Mundus status in 2009. This status was conferred by the European Union to only 39 international programmes across all disciplines for the period 2009-2013. It allows for very attractive scholarships to be issued for non-European students.
